potty days

"POTTY POWER!"

"Go, potty, go potty, go potty, GO!"

"Cannon, do you need to go potty?"

"Cannon, don't touch yourself."

"Cannon, do you need some privacy?"

"Cannon, do you need to go poop?"

These are common phrases around here these days. The first two from Cannon, the rest from me (and Todd, when he's around). We have one proud potty user in our house. Don't you worry - we've had more than our fair share of accidents. But he's doing great!

The potty jar does wonders.

Cannon has a jar, you see. When he uses the potty successfully, he gets to put two marbles into the jar. When he poops (I can't believe I'm using that word... a long cry from "mess," which is what I first used with Ryder but finally gave in when every friend and potty training movie/book used the real terms. There's no escaping it!)... anyway, when he poops, he gets to put four marbles in... and when he keeps his gaunchies (Canadian for boys' underwear... for those of you uneducated people out there:) dry at nighttime and rests he gets to put a handful of marbles in the beloved jar.

What happens when the jar is full? Well, he gets to go to the store and pick out a toy, and we start the marble dropping all over again.

Tonight was special. Tonight was memorable. Tonight, Cannon filled up his jar for the first time. After baths (because why would we go before and look somewhat normal?), we headed to the local grocier to pick up the most coveted Wingo, which Cannon has had his eye on ever since our last grocery trip.

It was a fabulous family outing.

Cannon was grinning from ear to ear as he ran down the isles.

And the friendly Mennonite woman was right when she leaned over to me and said... "He's walking out of here like he owns the place!"

Just picture Cannon strutting out of those double auto doors swinging his bag front to back in these fancy duds...

Even though Wingo was indeed the original plan... he, of course, had to entertain a few other options...

A dinosaur.

A light "saver."

Other Cars packs.

And a new favorite, a dragon.

These expressions are so "Cannon."

After much deliberation, he went with his heart... Wingo. Because of course we need yet another Cars car to add to our mix.

I hope your night was just as great as ours!

...just had to share one more of this guy. I CANNOT get enough of this face!!

Hudson is so adorable!

And I feel you on the potty training stuff. It was the most horrible experience of my life. I think I'm going to check Brody into day-care for a month and let them do it.

But good thing he got it! One less expense, because, seriously, diapers are SO EXPENSIVE! It's almost worth it to do cloth diapers. Almost.

Footed pajamas with shoes on is one of my favorites.
