even though he is seriously testing my patience with his abhorrent behavior and has made me wish I had held him back and started kindergarten next year.... but that's another issue altogether.

5 year olds are tough. It's so hard to put a finger on it, but they are just so manipulative, at least Madi is. It's not like when they were three and they just hit and you put them in time out. Now they are sneaky and tricky and smart about it! AAAAHHH! Good luck!
it's never too late! mark got held back after he'd already started. he was a late bday, too.
