a bit of the past

cannon walker - 3 1/2 months

Several weeks ago the little boys and I took a trip out to good ol' Merced (my hometown) for a visit with my parents while Todd was away interviewing. I'll have you know at one point during this process, Todd was gone 14 out of 20 days. It's been a long road, but we're in the homestretch. The interviewing is done, our match list is in and certified (even though Todd has repeated nightmares and fears that somehow, for some reason, our rank list didn't make it in), and now we're just waiting. Why we have to wait for two and a half weeks for a computer to connect the dots, I don't know. But, in any case, we find out Monday, January 26 where we'll be for the next four years of our lives. We'll keep you posted.

Anyway, our trip home was great. See for yourself...

Mini golfing in Fresno. It was Ryder's first time, and he LOVED it!

Check out that form! Ryder had a great time, that's for sure. But I have to admit, we cheated... a lot. It was actually really hot that day, I was wearing Cannon, and Ryder isn't so speedy at getting the little ball in the little hole. But hey, he didn't know the difference.

There were three courses to choose from... and of course we chose the Pirates - who wouldn't pick a course full of swords?! Although he was a little skeptical of this man.

Following our round of golf, we met my parents at the temple after their shift. As we were walking up the front steps, Ryder wandered ahead of us and sang "I Love to See the Temple" all by himself. It was darling.

Why my parents didn't make it into any of these pictures, I don't know. Maybe they have some on their camera?

Look how cute and chubby Cannon is! After our walk around the temple grounds, mom and dad gave Ryder a little lesson that they give the primary children when they visit, and then we went out for lunch at Mimi's. Thanks mom and dad for a fun afternoon!

While in Merced, Cannon started this.... Somehow he refined his breaking out skills and has been miraculously getting out of his swaddle ever since. It's kind of annoying, to be honest. Who wants to reswaddle a baby 10 times a night when they're half asleep?... That being said, we just now found Cannon asleep with both arms out and alongside his head. Maybe we should just go cold turkey. We shall see.

And when we got back, we had a few guests over for the BYU vs. U game. The outcome wasn't what we had hoped, but we still had fun. Noah (right) is two weeks older than Cannon (left) and Kara (middle... obviously) is four weeks younger than Cannon.

We crammed a lot of people (and kids!) and some yummy food into our apartment for the big game. Ryder and Bella stayed entertained (for a little while) with a movie on the mini dvd player. After that, it was a free for all with the toys. We missed all of you who couldn't make it over! Anyone and everyone is always welcome!

I love the photo of the 3 babies. Hopefully they'll be as good friends as ryder, bella, and caleb!
