a very happy birthday! (warning :: long post!)

Yesterday was the big 3-0 for Todd and #5 for Ryder.

It was a great day. We were blessed to be able to spend it together as a family. Our day started out with breakfast in bed (which quickly got moved to the table).

On the menu were eggs and bacon requested by Todd and french toast requested by Ryder. I have to say, it was the first time I made french toast that I really loved (except for creme brulee french toast, but that doesn't count).

Then the boys opened up presents... because someone little couldn't wait any longer.

 

This year, we let Ryder pick out his own birthday present with the money Nana and Papa sent him. He picked a lego Kingdoms castle. He picked it out earlier in the week and was so excited to get another small lego set to add to his setup.

Do you think anyone loves legos in our house? He's been carrying his new wallet around everywhere and has even offered to buy the groceries for me with his new $5 he received from Grandma Great Horne.

 Very excited to get his present from Cannon!... the Cars 2 game for his leapster.

A catapult to go with his knight collection. This may have been a poor decision on my part... flying small objects does not mix well with a crawling 9 month old. Hmm...

Todd even got a few things... A rather large bag of Swedish Fish (that Cannon so sneakily helped me hide in the kitchen the day before, telling Todd "Don't you look in this cupboard!," with his back up against the door.) Needless to say, Cannon was very excited to help Todd open this gift.

Ryder and Cannon got Todd tickets to the BYU v. Oregon State Football game. Ryder drew Todd a great card with the four tickets on top and he and Todd playing football below. Ryder has become quite the little artist!

Cannon got to join in on the fun a bit, with a present from my mom and dad. They sent a large gift for the two boys' birthdays....

A castle.

The boys were so very excited! I think Cannon played with this for about two hours on his own. Ryder also received a new knight to go with the castle, and he now has proclaimed it as his favorite toy ever. ;)

After presents, we played and enjoyed a lazy morning while Hudson took his nap. Ryder planned our day, with his #1 pick being swimming. So, as soon as Hudson woke up, we were off to the pool...

Followed by some lunch and naps and a visit to one of Todd's favorite places on earth...
 

He picked out his birthday present, showed the boys all of the coolest shoes and gear and told me all about his shoe closet he'll have one day. :)

Then it was off to P.F. Changs for dinner.

We tossed the rules out the window and let Ryder play his new leapster game at the dinner table.



One other little boy had a great time too!


 
Naps were extra long, probably due to a good time swimming, so we didn't end up having time for our visit to Glowing Greens (3D miniature golf) and our planned rounds of Candy Land and Old Maid. But don't you worry, we found plenty of time for the games today and we have golf scheduled for Tuesday.

On the way home, Ryder got to talk with Nana and Papa.
